This project involved the study, design and preparation of contract plans and related documents for widening existing U.S. Route 35 to allow for a center turn lane through downtown Winfield in Putnam County, West Virginia.
Roadway design responsibilities consisted of the preparation of preliminary and final designs, right-of-way plans, drainage study and design, temporary and permanent signing design as well as geometric layout and design for the widening and re-alignment of U.S. Route 35 to accommodate a center turn lane through a congested residential and business district.
The overall project length was 2.3 miles and included complex drainage issues as well as extensive right-of-way involvement that was also very restrictive due the locations of existing businesses and residential homes.
