Project: Culloden R.R. Overpass Bridge
This project involved the study, design and preparation of contract plans and related documents for a bridge, and approach roadway thereto, to span CSX Railroad in Cabell County, West Virginia.
The bridge consists of a three ( 3 ) span composite continuous welded steel plate girder superstructure utilizing High Performance Steel with a composite cast-in-place reinforced concrete deck supported by integral abutments and solid shaft piers. The bridge spans a total of 188' with a clear width of 48'and is skewed 31 degrees.
Roadway design responsibilities consisted of the preparation of preliminary and final designs; right-of-way plans; drainage study and design and geometric layout and design for the improvement of the two lane facility over a distance of approximately 1,200'.
The project required a total of four retaining walls. Two of which were pile and lagging walls and two were modular block retaining walls.
